Many of the items available at Freeport Home Medical Equipment, Inc. are covered by Medicare, and private insurances when the patient has met the appropriate medical criteria and a physician has written a prescription.
We take assignment: we handle the paperwork for reimbursement, as opposed to you paying for the insured portion up front. When an individual is interested in purchasing an item that is usually covered by insurance, staff will verify the patient’s insurance policy to determine specific coverage. This happens right away while the individual is in the store. So there is no doubt what the personal obligation and/or co-pay is for a particular item. Any co-pay is due at the time of service. We do our best to inform you about what we are able to find out; however, it is the patient’s responsibility to know and understand policy provisions. Please note, in order to bill insurance, we must first have a prescription and insurance information.
