Steve Clemen, Respiratory Care Practitioner, (RCP) is a licensed Respiratory Therapist at Freeport Home Medical Equipment. Born and raised in Dyersville, Iowa, Steve studied at Northeast Iowa CC, where he graduated from the respiratory therapy program in 1992.

After graduation, Steve came to Freeport where he worked for FHN for about five years as a Respiratory Therapist and cross-trained in Sleep Studies as a Nocturnal Polysomnographic Technician. There, he also started and directed the first sleep support group, called Awake.

In 1998, Steve joined Lors Medical, LLC and worked as a Respiratory Therapist fulfilling the company’s Veterans Administration contract in Wisconsin and Illinois traveling throughout the area.

Steve began working at Freeport Home Medical Equipment in July of 2008 where he sees clients in need of respiratory therapy. Mostly, he helps people learn how to use a CPAP mask system in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a condition with periodic episodes of breathing cessation during sleep.

“At Freeport Home Medical Equipment,” Steve says, “we work with patients to ensure proper fit, monitor treatment progress, and provide adjustments as needed.”

“As a CPAP user, I understand what patients go through and their on-going needs. Prior to needing CPAP, I became a licensed respiratory therapist because I wanted to help people. To me, nothing is more important than breathing and sleeping, so I am meeting my goal of helping people,” he continues. “Patients’ good sleep is my business.”

When he is not working, Steve enjoys basketball, watching sports, and spending time with his family.
