Judy Nettles has worked in health care for 35 years, primarily as a dental hygienist. She is a graduate of Northwestern University. Many of the same attributes that have made Judy successful in her earlier career are what make her a stand-out at Freeport Home Medical Equipment, Inc.
Judy joined FHME as a part-time employee in 2005, working in the store’s Mastectomy Boutique, a private area within the store that features forms, lingerie, and other items for women who have experienced a mastectomy. In late 2008, Judy became a full-time employee and is also supervising the sales staff in the showroom.
Licensed as a certified fitter by both Amoena and American Breast Care companies, the two manufacturers of product featured in the boutique. Judy has recently added another credential to her accomplishments: certification by the Board of Orthotics, USA. In addition to testing, this designation also requires 500 hours of patient care. Recognized as a national standard of accreditation in the industry, Judy says, “Not every woman is easy-to-fit. Every woman is different and the more hands-on experience I have, the more I can be helpful to my customers.”
One of the highlights of her career at FHME is when she and Carolyn Sluiter were invited by the owners of American Breast Care to the firm’s headquarters in Marietta, Georgia, to participate in a Roundtable Presentation. While there, they not only learned how breast forms are made, but actually were able to experience the process themselves.
In her free time, Judy likes to travel, play golf, garden, attend the theatre, and cook. Her specialty is desserts.
