Gary has spent some three decades as a health care professional. Born on a farm in Kent, Gary moved with his parents to Rockford when he was six years old. After high school, he served in the military as a weapons specialist in the Navy. In 1971, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts.
Upon graduation, he joined Singer Mental Health Center where he worked for seven years. His professional experience also includes being an administrator for temporary medical staffing agencies, and directing ALCARE, an alcohol and drug treatment center which became part of Rosecrance. Gary gained Hospice experience as Director for VNA Hospice just prior to joining Sentry Home Medical Equipment in Rockford which was purchased by Integrated Home Health Care in 2002. Gary worked for Sentry and Integrated in marketing for thirteen years. He came to Freeport Home Medical Equipment, Inc. in the spring of 2006.
Among other things, Gary is knowledgeable about DORS (the Department of Rehabilitation Services) in Rockford and attends the Ostomy Support Group Meetings as FHME’s representative.
Known for his openness and outgoing personality, Gary likes to interact with people. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of medical equipment and is happy to educate patients and family members in the proper way to use equipment and actually, in any way possible.
In his free time, Gary enjoys working on his 1954 Chevy pickup truck and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
